The Remote Earthing Solution is a developed system of electronic and mechanical components that enables safe, fast, and secure earthing of electrified railway and tramway maintenance roads.  Designed and manufactured by ART the system comprises 4 main components.

1. Position Switch

• With Fortress interlocking
• Manually Operated
• Located at the Entry End of the maintenance road

2. Position Motorised Earthing Unit

• With Position Feedback
• Rated for 3KV and 1500Amps
• Remotely Operated
• Located at the Earthing End of the Maintenance Road
• On a Frame that is mounted from the Ceiling Structure

3. Interlocking Control Cabinet

• Located ‘near’ the earthing end of the maintenance roads 
• Containing the Power Supplies
• Containing Interlocking control logic
• AS3000 compliant

4. Fortress Key Panel

• Located on site as required
• With Interfaces to the Interlocking Control Cabinet

ART has supplied the remote earthing system to Pakenham East Depot. The system was installed on 4 maintenance roads and was designed to meet the depot’s operational and safety requirements.
